Here at Nick Smith Associates, we are experts at street lighting design, street lighting design is a specialist area of the construction industry, our core business is providing a street lighting design service to other organisations within the construction industry. Recent research has shown that Projects that require a more sensitive approach in lighting design are often characterized by a greater appreciation of the importance of this. Numerous new sites have an existing ecology that needs to be preserved. Currently, we have clients within housing developers, property developers, lighting manufacturers, local authorities, civil engineering consultants and lighting and civil contractors, for all our clients we include a complete lighting design service which includes. Production of drawing of client's road or are layout drawings, lighting calculations in the large paper format up to A0, electrical calculations and ducting layouts, supply service connection details, equipment specifications and pictures, production of standard documents package including bill of quantities, cable network and feeder pillar details, electrical schematics, installation details, equipment schedule and numbering, standard detail drawings and liaison with the adoptable highway authority.

Nick smith associates were founded by Nick Smith in July 2004, we are based in Chesterfield but we operate all over the UK. We principally carry our street lighting design, highway lighting design and sports floodlighting. We aim to provide a professional efficient service to all our clients, with every project we do lighting impact assessment to form part of an environmental impact assessment or as a separate lighting impact assessment for new and existing installations which means we look at how the lighting and lighting design impact on the surroundings, we carry out work for local authorities, developers, consultants, architectural practices and manufactures who require the expertise offered by us.

We use all the latest equipment from the latest computer design techniques like Auto CAD 2022, Keylights, AG132, Dialux, Autolux and lighting reality to prepare the design in three dimensions with three-Dimensional masking being applied to show the actual effect buildings will have on the distribution of modern exterior lighting equipment.
